Disconnect Extraneous Services

Get Rid of Phone Services You Don't Need

Many companies pay for telecommunications services they simply don't need.

Stack of Money

In working with different clients, we recommend they disconnect extraneous services with the following parameters:

  • Inside Wire Maintenance Plans - if you already pay for the services of a phone equipment vendor, or just completed new wiring in your building, you should consider disconnecting these plans
  • International Long Distance Plans - if your company never makes international calls, or you only make 1-2 calls per month, these plans are not providing any value
  • Cell Phone Insurance - unless your employees break their phones every other month, or you have top of the line phones, chances are you may not need this
  • Add-on services that are never used - if you pay extra for special features for fax or modem lines that you don't need, you may want to consider getting regular, low cost lines.   Even with package bundles, you'll probably still come out ahead.  Compare pricing before making any decisions.
  • <>Fax lines - if you are a small business that uses the fax machine infrequently, consider getting rid of your extra fax line and combining it with a voice line.  Most fax/copiers can accommodate dual usage, and your phone provider can give you a "distinctive ring" number, which is a separate telephone number.  Your clients still have a separate fax number, and your fax machine can distinguish fax calls from voice calls.  There are also several online companies that will deliver your faxes electronically.  You can get a separate phone number, and receive faxes delivered right into your email box.  You save paper and any time you would have spent scanning those faxes.  And you can get these services for a fraction of the cost of traditional faxing methods.

Once you audit your phone bills and service, you may find that you can disconnect extraneous services.  Even though the service may not seem like a lot of money, small charges add up (remember, all of this is included in tax and surcharge totals).
